Homemade Pizza Sauce

Like chocolate in a truffle makes all the difference, it’s the tomato sauce that goes in making of a delightful pizza. This is super simple pizza sauce that always comes out perfect. So what are we waiting for, lets make some of our own.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup pureed tomatoes
1 onion chopped finely
1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
2 teaspoons chilly flakes
2 teaspoons Herbs mix - Oregano and Basil ( even better if you can find fresh herbs)
Salt to taste
Black pepper
1/2 to 1 tablespoon of honey depending on sourness of tomatoes
  • In a hot heavy-bottom pan, add oil and add finely chopped onions and garlic and fry for half a minute
  • Add the tomato puree, chilli flakes and herbs and let it simmer on low heat. Keep stirring in between till the sauce thickens to your liking
  • When the spices have cooked ( this is when you will see that the sauce has left some oil), add pepper and then the honey and give it a stir
  • Turn off the flame and let the sauce cool
I also like this sauce for the fact that its versatile and I sometimes even use this for making pasta with some cream and vodka and the flavour is simply heavenly. Let me know if you try this one. :)
